Karen Knorr & Olivier Richon

Punks

Arriving in London in 1976, Karen Knorr and Olivier Richon met at college. Soon the duo indulged in their shared fascination with punk, one of the city’s burgeoning subcultures, and set out to capture portraits of the youth in rebellion that were on their way to defining a generation.

Biography

Karen Knorr (West-Duitsland, 1954) was raised in Puerto Rico. She studied Film and Photographic Arts at the Polytechnic of Central London and did a Masters in Photographic Studies at Derby University. In 2010 her series India Song was awarded the Pilar Citoler V International Photography Award. Karen Knorr is Professor of Photography at the University for the Creative Arts, Farnham, Surrey.

Olivier Richon (Switzerland, 1956) studied Film and Photographic Arts at the Polytechnic of Central London. In 1991 he received the Camera Austria Award for Contemporary Photography. Olivier Richon is Professor of Photography at the Royal College of Art in London.
