Noorderlicht

'Wonderland', the main exhibition of the Photofestival Noorderlicht 1999, is presented at the Der Aa-Kerk in the heart of Groningen. It is an exhibition in the finest Noorderlicht tradition, presenting photography that, now more than ever, moves on 'the border of documentary'.

'Wonderland' carries the viewer along on a journey to a reality that lives under under the skin, to an imaginary space where nothing is what it seems. Some thirty photographers, originating from all corners of the world, together create an intimate and poetic world, that calls forward both alienation and recognition. 'Wonderland' is Noorderlicht in its most pure form.
