Toni Hafkenscheid

Terra Cognita

Entrance: free (with admission museum)

The Terra Cognita poster photo is by Toni Hafkenscheid. Nature often reminds him of the toy model railroad he had as a child. Especially the North American landscape (Hafkenscheid emigrated from Amsterdam to Canada) he associates with the cotton wool trees and cardboard mountains through which his trains used to ride. With the ‘wrong’ use of tilt-shift lenses, he can focus on a very small piece of landscape while blurring the rest of the image, which makes it feel artificial.

Venue: Restaurant Museum Belvédère.
The lecture is English spoken.
Museum admission applies.
