For Land, newspaper photographs were the starting point for a number of graffiti drawings. The drama of an historic event is translated into a couple of blots and lines, shadows and silhouettes.
In contrast to Land, Pennings photographs details of visible reality. The photographs are often printed with heavy grain, giving them a raw, almost painterly feeling.
Van den Berg makes sculptural works of bodies without head and arms. The sculptures are smooth and have no psychological expression. Only small anatomical details refer to the specific person. |
