Renze Dijkema makes still lifes of small refuse material such as splinters of glass, candy wrappers and wood shavings which he arranges according to colour, putting the photographs together into a panoramic whole. Through the shallow depth of field a contrast arises between unrecognisable fields of colour and the razor-sharp rendering of details. These collages call up associations with landscapes with ruins, lost cultures and desolate, abandoned worlds. Oldenhof also works with found materials. He builds towers of found objects, in which photographs too are framed.
