Jeh Song Baak (South Korea/USA/France, b. 1967) was born in South Korea and immigrated to America when he was nine. For the last year-and-a-half he has lived in Paris. For him, photography is closely linked with his personal history: for more than 25 years he had no contact at all with his mother, nor did he have any photograph of her, or from his early childhood. His black and white photographs, a selection from a book of his work soon to appear, 'Utopia (The Four Corners of My Room)' are usually made during his nightly wanderings through various world cities, and deal with desire and the achievability (or unachievability) of dreams. |
