Jürgen Escher (Germany, b. 1953) is a socially-engaged photojournalist who has done considerable work in Africa, Asia and Latin America under contract for international aid and development organisations. As a photographer he focuses not on news events and incidents, but on daily life. The dignity of human beings and human life are the main value in his work, as can be seen in the series "Kinder des Mondes," which he made of the Yanomami, an Indian tribe in the Amazon region still living in the stone age. |
