Theatrical images, for which Florence Chevallier (France, b. 1955) placed young actors in Baroque Italian palaces. Through the tension between the frozen drama and the opulent architecture, her photographs seem to be dreams that could turn into nightmares at any moment. In addition, in a number of diptychs Chevallier combines portraits of the actors with photographs of an old, crumbling abbey, In these she emphasizes more the contemplative aspect of these theatrical images.
