Gilbert Garçin (France, b. 1930) calls himself an artist and illusionist; he is a kindred spirit with Tati, and makes photomontages in the spirit of Magritte.Armed with glue, scissors and a touch of humour, Garçin assembles small maquettes in which he himself plays the main role. In the surrealistic scenes, Garçin is working bit by bit on a fictional autobiography. At the same time, in these parodic images he makes fun of himself, and all of us.
