Pascale Lafay (France) photographs works of sculpture. But instead of simply recording these sculptures, she gives her photographs extra significance with the aid of astoundingly simple photographic means. By photographing mobile sculpture groups from underneath, she amplifies their aura of drama. Smearing the lens with grease provides a misty, distorted image. By reducing the hues in her colour photographs to a series of grey tones the photos take on a menacing character. In this way the sculptures become part of a mystic shadow play.
