Here Eric Nehr (France, b. 1964) presents a series of portraits of people he met on the street and photographed in his studio. Although these anonymous persons are not experienced models, everyone appears to know how you pose for the camera. Influenced by images from the fashion world that we encounter daily, the subjects take on stereotypical poses. With their nonchalant, somewhat distant poses they conform to the pattern of expectations that the camera evidently calls up. At the same time they make themselves vulnerable.
