What photographer Alnis Stakle (Latvia, b. 1975) remembers most of his youth is his fear of death. When his parents were out to work, he remained behind with his fascination for good and evil and a book in which the most terrible illnesses were described and illustrated. He digests these memories in "Dark Side of the Moon." The deliberate decision to use photo material of dubious quality, past its "use-by" date, reinforces the dated atmosphere and the sense of a journey through memory. |
