For a year Koos Foekema (b. 1956) wandered along the Potmarge of Leeuwarden. This, the smallest river in Friesland, is the thread that runs through the photographic narrative of a journey through a remarkable water landscape. Against the background of nature, traces of the past and characteristics of our time, Foekema visualises the residences and daily traffic on both banks of the river and the diversity of social life in the area. Devoting considerable attention to that social side, this is an artistic report on daily life and unexpected aspects of this unique river basin.
