Miek Bijleveld (b. 1967) shows a selection of heliogravures that she has made over the past twelve years. The velvety black etchings of photographs vary from symbolically pregnant, stage-managed torsos to massive, rigid portraits of bodies: form and expression in nudity, recorded in ink on paper. Bijleveld shows the heliography in all its pride and glory, but also in its unruly capriciousness. |
