The Cibachromes of the Groningen photographer Marco Wiegers (b. 1973) are made in diverse places around the globe, ranging from Asia to Leeuwarden. Not a soul can be discovered in these night exposures. The rather monochrome images of these dark and cryptic urban landscapes therefore evoke a strongly eerie sense. The theme of street scenes is closely connected with the location where they are being exhibited: various shop windows in the Nieuwe Oosterstraat, where they can be seen day and night.
The photograph made in Leeuwarden is the subject of a contest; information available at the spot where it is displayed. |
