Richard Degen prefers to photograph in black and white in order to be able to capture the essence of reality with his camera. His wide interest and idiosyncratic way of looking at everyday objects is translated into photographs that are peppered with spontaneous austerity. By this Degen creates an intimate, personal world in which small details are the core of the story that he wants to evoke.
