Where the universal rights of men speak of equality and free movement, reality seems to be more stubborn. For economic migrants from poor countries the borders often remain shut. Shahidul Alam (Dhaka, b. 1955) followed the trail of migrants in his own country, Asia and Europe and photographed them in the no man's land between expectation and alienation.

The exhibition in the Synagogue has ended - the work by Shahidul Alam has been transferred to the Oosterboogcomplex.
