At the invitation of the Institut Néerlandais in Paris, Pepijn Provily lived in the French capital for a year. His photographs are an ode to the light of Paris, which is warmer in tone than that of the Netherlands. Carla van de Puttelaar makes close-ups of nudes in which the accent lies on details such as birth marks, scrapes or bruises. Distanced by the colour and intimate by the closeness of the camera, with her photographs she explores vulnerability, sensuality and emotion. Since the early 1980s Hans Abbing has been photographing with a 'slide-camera' he constructed himself, in which the film slides past the shutter during the exposure. This creates disquieting distortions in his photographic portraits. Domestic Landscapes by Bert Teunissen is a documentary series on the Europe, which is about to disappear. Because of the quickly developing regulation from Brussels, ways of life that have existed for centuries are presently losing their cultural authenticity. The project is homage to the generation that has constructed this Europe. The series shown here was made in Portugal. The floral still lifes by Margriet Smulders have the names of goddesses from Greek mythology as titles: heroines who combine beauty and sensuality with primeval female force.
