Photographs made during three trips to Karelia in 2003 and 2004, an almost forgotten region that lies on either side of the Finnish-Russian border. There De Maar photographed living rooms, kitchens and bedrooms. A first selection was shown in the old USVA Noorderlicht gallery in 204. The photos won her various Dutch distinctions, and the American Lucie Award as 'discovery of the year'. De Maar (b. 1944) only registered at Minerva Academy and discovered her talent for photography when she was 54. She graduated in June, 2004. Kunstonderneming Oosterkade |
