Thrift is the story of secondhand articles, a market into which social and religious organizations devotedly pour their efforts. As a rule the goods are processed by volunteers or by people who - often as part of their parole conditions - are working on a return to society. What goes through their hands is the tangible evidence of the whims of fashion in our time, tastes that rise and disappear with equal speed.
