Margriet Smulders & Carla van de Puttelaar

Nude photography by the internationally acclaimed Carla van de Puttelaar. The photographer says of her own work: "I clearly show birthmarks, and also temporary marks on the body such as bruises, scrapes or the marks underwear leaves on the skin... The distance is primarily created by the color. In many of my photographs the skin has the aura of porcelain, delicate and cool... For me they are goddesses." Margriet Smulders produces photographic floral still lifes in large formats. Her work is inspired by 17th century floral still-lifes. She makes frequent use of materials such as glass, mirrors and fabric. Her intention: "As if you are wandering through a landscape or drifting down a stream in a boat."
