Igor Sevçuk, Esther Kempf, Casper Rila, Nan Hao > Zoning
During Noorderlicht Gallery Sign can always guarantee unusual presentations on the interface of photography and the visual arts. Zoning shows work by a diverse group. Sevçuk (Bosnia, 1972) has a cinematic vision of photography. By the movement of the camera over photographs he suggests history. Kempf (Switzerland, 1980) works on the basis of three-dimensional installations. Playing with perspective and camera angles she creates the illusion of another reality. Rila (1982) shows digitally manipulated war landscapes from which the traces of violence have been erased, but the suggestion remains. In his photos and videos (title: The usefulness of what it is not) Hao transforms the normal into the abnormal in order to thus construct a relation with the functional.
