Fotocollective Kamarata (Pascal van Heesch, Jack van Gool and Nico Roodhart) with: Evelyn Ebens and Edwin Pijpe

Ukraine - Heimat in the new east
Photo portrait of a society under construction

Since it declared its independence in 1991 Ukraine has been a republic on the move. Nico Roodhart (b. 1939), Jack van Gool (b. 1960) and Pascal van Heesch (b.1969) each in their own way give us a picture of the diversity of that country, from resorts in the Crimea to miners in Donetsk and pensioners protesting against the umpteenth injustice, and from the ominous remains of Chernobyl to the modern streets of Kiev, only a couple hours drive away. Their work reveals a different heimat than the utopia that people had in mind during the communist revolution. Evelyn Ebens (macrophotography) and Edwin Pijpe (landscape photography) connect up with their own work.

Evelyn Ebens: Nature in Art
In 2006 artist and coach Ebens (b. 1951) started a research project in a medium that was new to her: (macro-)photography. She deliberately limits her search for insightful imagery to het old wild garden. A place she thought she knew, but revealed a whole new richness to her.

The photos by Edwin Pijpe (b. 1966) speak of a great love for nature. But besides trees, sea and sky he also photographs industry, architecture and portraits with much detail and exceptional perspectives.
