Adrienne van Eekelen (1963) has made a poetic series of photographs about the beginning of life; women with small children and pregnant women. The photographs are combined with images which have an especially symbolic quality. However, important to Van Eekelen is not the literal story, but the story that is created through the relations between photographer, world and individual. The photograph the balance that is thus achieved: captured balance.
