Ten students of photography present themselves in a collective exhibition. They have all approached the themes The Garden of Eden and Unbeschreiblich Weiblich?. In the work of a number of the students longing is very important: the desire to be complete (Daan Brand, 1973), the desire for a better world, a paradise, something that has been or still has to come (Danielle Diemel, 1972), and the central point of desire inclining towards a synthetic reality (Mark van Laere, 1970). Another student shows the unattainability of paradise, "far away from our everyday reality, nearby, yet so unattainable" (Corine Hormann, 1968) To Agnes Kappert (1975) The Garden of Eden does not exist at all: "In beautiful places that we encounter, something human is always present". Regina Boersma (1972) and Marisja Roossien (1974) consider religion an important issue. The other exhibitors Francisca Klomp (1974) "Never again fear of bathing suits", Niels Koopman (1974) "Fifteen different scents behind identical doors" and Michel Meijer (1970) "Have you seen all those stars?" were playfully inspired by themes of Noorderlicht 1997. |
