Johan Rienstra (1943) is fascinated by 'the uncensored view' of the camera lens. "It sees reality not determined by cutural conventions, but by characteristics and limitations of the camera's technique." This was the startingpoint for his series of nature photos of trees and of the Waddenzee. On the one hand they are modest images that have a soothing quality. On the other hand they have a reflective, expressionistic quality, inclining to the abstract.
