Inspired by Gilles Peress, Hans Sas (1941) started photographing farmers in his area in the autumn of 1987. Apart from photographing farmers' activities, he has also recorded oher aspects of agricultural life on the Hogeland in the last ten years: still lifes in barns, cattle in meadows and the meadow landscape of the North of Groningen with crops in summer and shining clay in autumn. The photos are recordings of the activities on and around the farmstead, which have a different nature every season and every year. The result is an overview of Sas's work and that of the farmers of the Hogeland of the past ten years.
