The Noorderlicht Photofestival is organised by the non-profit foundation 'Stichting Fotografie Noorderlicht'. She works together with publisher Aurora Borealis for all publications that appear on the occasion of the festival.

During Noorderlicht 1997 two publications appeared. The first is a huge photobook in which work is featured from the two exhibitions at the main location, plus an integral rendition of 'The Chain', the exhibition at the USVA Noorderlicht Photogallery. The second is a CD-ROM that features the work from the photobook, together with an extended overview in images and texts of all other exhibitions that took place.
