Hellen van Meene (1972) has photographed female adolescents, in all their vulnerability and power. The images show, on the one hand self-consciousness, and on the other hand the girl's insecure feelings about their own identity. The peculiar little dresses and tops in which the girls are dressed, intensify their vulnerability. Thus an alienating effect is created typical of this age: drifting between maturity and childhood.
