During a stay in New York Eveline Mooibroek (1970) encountered an extremely artificial society. Central in her work is the representation of our artificial and dualistic world, in which children's toys are used to imitate reality. In her eyes children are being taught the prevailing values and conventions with the help of toys. In her work Mooibroek accentuates the artificiality of this attempt. In this exhibition she presents a series of unusual portraits; of dolls' heads. Their hair has been done and they are wearing make-up according to the Western beauty ideal.
