Multimedia artist Bert Schutter (1945) shows a work that is based on a famous painting by Renoir, which depicts a romantic image of female beauty. Using the computer, Schutter edited the image of the painting. The result is an out of focus image on which three bathing women are just visible. The lack of focus increases when the viewer tries to examine the picture closely. Thus the romantic ideal becomes unattainable, an aspect empasised by Schutter.
