Brouwer's photos have been staged. She cuts in the photos, thereby detaching forms from their surroundings which then start leading their own life. They are pasted in another context, so that a new image is created. In these sorts of collages people's portraits play an important role. They seem old and weathered and have been printed on see-through cloths.
