The starting point of Stig's photos is the amateur snap shot. The picture is unordened and badly framed. This type of photo has a certain directness and naturalness. Although her photos look like simple snapshots, something has deliberately been left out, which leaves the viewer guessing.

In the series about lost loves shown at Noorderlicht Stig cuts into the photos, leaving a man or woman leaning against the edge of the picture. According to Stig, people don't look at a normal photo any more. By making small changes Stig does succeed in reclaiming the viewer's attention.
