In their slide-presentation Z.T., Bick and Van Iersel show two possibilities for portraying the city. Shots of Zurich by Van Iersel and of Tokyo by Bick, the two most expensive cities in the world, feature in the presentation. Tokyo acts as a symbol for the new metropolis: the city of the future, while Zurich, on the other hand, represents ultimate bourgeois mentality. Both cities, however, act as symbol for a rigidly controlled society.
The combined presentation allows the photographers the opportunity to compare and examine their work. Both photographers are looking for images that illustrate how they experience the area and what kind of influence the city has on them. |
