Bouma (1899-1959) was an architect at the Groningen Dienst Gemeentewerken. He later became the director of the Openluchtmuseum (an open air museum) in Arnhem. Apart form designing buildings, he also designed chairs, organised exhibitions, painted and took photographs. He was chairman of the Groninger photo club Daguerre, for some years. Bouma sometimes took photos on commission, but he more often photographed for his own pleasure. Being an architect, he had great interest areas under construction, although landscapes and people also interested him. The work on show in the Korenbeurs is a small selection of the collection from the Groninger Archives. |
