In the late summer and autumn of 1998 Huber travelled through the Ruhrgebied. She was amazed by the spread of this urban area, in which city centres and suburbs are slowly intertwining. Her amazement was the reason why she started photographing the area. Huber does not emphasise the formlessness or ugliness of the area, but instead searches for its qualities. Especially in the strange areas in between the cities of the Ruhrgebied, Huber sees opportunities for unplanned and unexpected use.
The viewer seems to be sucked into the photos; he seems to be standing in the middle of the scene, walking along the street or in the square into the areas in the Ruhrgebied.
The photos on show are part of the collection of the "Fotosammlung Rheinisches Industriemuseum Oberhausen." |
