During the 'FotoKijkDag' ('Photo viewing day') the population of Groningen and its surroundings can submit old photographs that are in their possession to a panel of photography experts. The photos date from ca. 1840 to the beginning of World War I. The experts will judge the photos' historical, artistical and visual value. At the end of the FotoKijkDag an exhibition will be assembled from the photos that were brought along. This exhibition, under the title 'In the Light of Groningen', will be on show in the Korenbeurs during the festival. Thus, the people from Groningen write their own visual history at the end of the millennium, with photos from everyday and less everyday life.
