"Vertige" means dizziness, and "vestige" means trace or remains. Clément's (1950) photos make you dizzy, while their subject are traces, remains of his travels.

On his wanderings through Spain, Hong Kong, Belgium and France Clément roamed through dark streets, across public squares and past holy places. He also visited places like hotel rooms, libraries and bistros, recording passing moments with his camera. Reflecting surfaces photographed at dusk create layered images in many photographs: glass, mirrors, paintings and polished stone reflect a second reality. The images incite a feeling of a dream in the viewer. Fiction and reality meet in the photos of Clément.
