Cohen (1956) creates unusual still-lives in the form of, among other things, triptychs, which refers to History of Art. The still-lives contain an unexpected combination of objects: the shadows of palm trees on a boy's torso , or the profile of enormous car tyres behind the hands of a child. The objects are not situated in the "right place," they have been removed from their original context and placed in a strange place or modified in a photo studio. Cohen uses the form of a triptych to create a clear, symmetric composition. The middle panel is the centre, while the side panels are almost each others mirrored image.

In one of the triptychs "El año pasado en Marienbad," or "Last year in Marienbad" (1997) there is an aquarium in front of a photo of the famous Czech spring. A pebble in the aquarium, covered with air bubbles, refers to the real medicinal spring.
