"Soul and Soul" is Suzuki's (1943) first work. The series consists of photos taken in coal mine areas and depict the depressed lives of people who work in a declining industry. The series "Mind Games," which shows images of circus life, dramatises the human existence shown in "Soul and Soul". Suzuki is fascinated by circus performers and their nomadic existence. Every person is transformed into a wandering actor in front of his camera, or in the words of the photographer: "daily life is a circus without an epilogue." |
