From June 2003 through May 2004 the travelling three-part exhibition 'The Escape' was on view in the northern railway stations. The segments of the project travelled from Groningen to to the train station halls in Assen and Leeuwarden, in the end 'The Escape' was seen in its entirety in the three stations.
The first episode consists of a five by three meters large underwater image of the Australian photographer Narelle Autio, and eight images (two by one) that were recently made by American photographer Ken Schles in Groningen.
The second episode consists of a just as large image of the American photographer Doug Aitken, and eight images that were made by Swedish photographer Anders Petersen in Groningen.
The third episode features a large image by Steve McCurry and eight images by John Gossage, both American photographers. The project is an initiative of Noorderlicht and bureau stancoenders and is organised in co-operation with NS Stations.
