In the Nature Museum Groningen, from September 7, 2002 till January 5, 2003, the exhibition 'Celestial Nights' is presented, by the American photographer Neil Folberg. This show, organised in cooperation between Noorderlicht and the museum, consists of 45 remarkable black and white photographs. They can best be described als composite works that offer a mystical and fairytale-like image of nocturnal starscapes.
The photographer Neil Folberg was born in San Francisco in 1950 en became fascinated by photography at the age of 16. Since 1976 Folberg lives in Israel, where he begon photographing the Sinai. Later he captured synagogues all over the world. With his new series of starry landscapes he returns to black and white photography.
In the exhibition a small cabinet is shown with some meteorite rocks from the museum collection.
